Hiroyasu Tsukamoto, Ph.D. (CV)

INCOMING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF AEROSPACE, UIUC; AFFILIATE, NASA JPL

Dr. Hiroyasu Tsukamoto is an incoming Assistant Professor of Aerospace at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), a Postdoctoral Research Affiliate at the Robotics Section of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), and the director of the ACXIS (Autonomous Control, Exploration, Intelligence, and Systems) Laboratory at UIUC. He is the recipient of the Vougut Fellowship and the William F. Ballhaus Prize for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in Space Engineering, GALCIT, California Institute of Technology (Caltech), and completed his Ph.D. in Autonomous Control and Robotics in 2023, advised by Prof. Soon-Jo Chung. He has participated in Science-Infused Spacecraft Autonomy for Interstellar Object Exploration, Multi-Spacecraft Technology Demonstration, and Exobiology Extant Life Surveyor (EELS) Projects at NASA JPL.
